One of the most intriguing things about the retro revival is the efforts that publishers have made to revise old games. Remakes offer us the ability to relive great games from the past, through the lens of modern hardware and playability.
Panzer Dragoon was released on the Seag Saturn in 1995 then ported to other platforms, including the PlayStation 2 in 2000. It has been revived in 2020 for several current platforms, (Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch), and now PlayStation 4. Aside from the Sega Saturn, the PS2 version was perhaps the superior version (unless you had your PC setup just right).
What can you expect with the new Panzer Dragoon?
A new, remade version of the Panzer Dragoon game – true to the original, with improved graphics and controls, that suit modern gaming standards!
On a far, lone planet, you encounter two dragons awaken from the ancient times. Armed with a deadly gun from the past, and the guidance of your armored blue dragon, you must fulfill your destiny and keep the Prototype Dragon from reaching the Tower or die trying.
– Pilot through seven unbelievably realistic levels ranging from tropical blue ocean cities to intricate subterranean ruins.
– Fight the Prototype Dragon who appears together with evil giant dragonflies, frightening man-sized wasps, giant sandworms, and lethal flying battleships.
– Attack approaching from all sides enemies quickly and without mercy, with improved 360-degree controls and lock-on targeting.
Panzer Dragoon’s modern graphics are certainly far improved, but it’s worth highlighting that the playability has been revised. Some players have found this an improvement, others a hindrance.
