It’s no secret that the Amiga is my platform of choice. I was using it well into the late 1990s, and was there when Worms first appeared. A friend brought it round, probably thinking I’d be a good home for it as his parents had bought a PC and he wanted a tenner to put towards DOOM or something similar.
I was, of course, instantly hooked. The graphics, the scrolling, the range of weapons, and the immense playability of the title left a lasting impression. Aside from a few misteps, most of the sequels are equally strong, which is how the game has lasted 30 years.
Below, news from original developer Andy Davidson about Worms Director’s Cut 1.5, along with a good selection of newly released Amiga games.

Andy Davidson confirms involvement with Worms Director’s Cut 1.5
The Worms DC 1.5 is set to feature Worms levels from fan groups around the world, and will launch free on the weekend of 31st January, 2025 at the Gerp event in Sweden.
And to clarify, the announcement from demo goup TBL clearly states “Andy… ready to unleash Worms Directors Cut onto the Amiga once more.” It’s happening!
Here’s Andy’s tweet:
It’s not like anyone needs telling how amazing the Amiga was, is it? If doubters remain, this news should set them straight, once and for all.
A500 Mini supplies are running short!

Serious news now. If you’re planning to get an A500 Mini – the Amiga styled mini-console that runs prety much any Amiga game without the original hardware – now is the time to act.
Informing the device’s community on Facebook, Retro Games Ltd states
We know that a new larger Amiga games console is coming soon, probably an A1200 or CD32 replica, in Q1 of 2025, so such an announcement makes sense.
You can order the A500 Mini on Amazon now.
Reshoot Proxima 3 gets tinbox release
12 months after Reshoot Proxima 3 was released, the game has been given a new physical tinbox release. However, while this seems to have sold out, you can still get the various other editions (download, CD, USB) for the Amiga AGA game.
Millie & Molly getting Amiga version
Looking for a relaxing platfrm puzzler? C64 game Millie & Molly was released in 2020 to great acclaim, and after getting a Nintendo Switch port, is now getting an Amiga version.
Developer Carleton Handley has confirmed it is in the works, but while he previoulsy prepared code for the Amiga game, this isn’t what you can see in the live progress video he shared recently.
The game is a platform puzzler in which you control a pair of sisters whose job is to tidy up their rather spacious property.
New Amiga games for October 2024
Let’s finish off with some brand new Amiga games that you can play on your emulator, A500 Mini, or original hardware.
Sega Master System beat ‘em up Vigilante is being ported to Amiga, and you can play the demo now.
Tale of Evil is an unofficial sequel to Tower of Evil, from Electric Black Sheep, and is available as a “name your own price” deal from the Itch.io page. Here’s a preview:
Again from Electric Black Sheep, Duel is the sort of indie game you found on an Amiga magazine cover disk and played over and over again. This has player-v-player (2 player) and player-v-CPU modes. Take a look at it:
Speaking of indie titles, Alien Fish Finger returns! As noted in our news on the latest edition of Amiga Addict, the game is included as a download, but it seems the platform shooter has been enhanced with a 1.31 version. Now charityware, the game – part Worms, part Impossible Mission – can be downloaded free but there’s no reason not to support developer David Cruickshank’s Just Giving for Cancer Research UK.
Game over!
There is more to come over the next few days, as I continue with the themed, platform-based round ups of new games and hardware.
