Argonaut’s 90s series Croc has been confirmed for a HD remaster which could be a great opportunity to get it back in action. Stemming from the same era as Star Fox, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, this PlayStation classic isn’t remembered by everyone, but it certainly held a strong fanbase for a solid 25 years.

This information was received after Argonaut founder, Jez San, responded to a tweet from Time Extension’s James Batchelor stating, “I have news but it’s a little premature to announce it. a ‘Croc HD’ has started early development.”

Originally releasing on the PS1, Sega Saturn and Windows PC in 1997, this action-packed platformer sold over 3 million copies on the PS1 alone, which is not terribly unsurprising given its launch during an era when 3D games where the best thing since sliced bread.

Although there is not a lot of information to feed off of regarding what the remaster will entail and for which game(s) specifically, we can only assume that it will be the original title being given polished-up graphics to give it that modern edge.

The great thing about retro remakes is that it open doors to new generations, reviving titles that would otherwise stay in the past or with the dedicated fanbase. It’s reassuring to know that developers continue to keep the classics alive.
