I never imagined I’d ever be writing about Half-Life 3 in anything but wistful tones. Thoughts of a game that never was, of lost opportunities.

Of a story unfinished.

Yet it seems like all might not be lost. There is a growing sense that Half-Life 3 might actually be a THING, and that it has been in development for a few years.

It’s all thanks to a voice actor’s online resume, which referred to a title called “Project: White Sands.” In the Half-Life universe, this is the location of the Black Mesa facility.

YouTuber Tyler McVicker has been digging into all available evidence, not just the latest accidental (and now deleted) faux pas. Here’s what he thinks:

It’s very easy to get excited about rumours, so I’m taking it with a pinch of salt. However, this is perhaps the most positive news about Half-Life 3 since the days of Half-Life 2, and the arrival of the “episodes.” They never completed the story in the way we thought they might.
