A Project X sequel is about to reach the end of its crowdfunding period on Kickstarter, with £7,159 pledged of the £5,000 goal. Project X: Light Years is a sequel to the Amiga shooter, and is being developed “In partnership with Team17.”
Music will be by Allister Brimble, and the game will be released through Steam. While there is no Amiga release planned, a stretch goal gives you the original soundtracks on CD.
Personally speaking, I am thrilled that this is available to support. It looks absolutely stunning, I think you’ll agree.

Retro Gaming Releases Roundup
What you’ve read so far is just the tip of the iceberg. Here is the rest of the new retro gaming releases from the past week.
1989 arcade shooter Blast Off (sequel to Namco’s Bosconian) was a Japan-only release, but is now out on PS4 and Nintendo Switch via the Arcade Archives.
Newly released on Steam is Coin-Op Vice, a 2.5D Top-Down action game with retro graphics, deck building, and mini games. Check it out on Steam.
Formerly released on PC via Steam in 2023, “jump-dash-run” platformer BZZZT is now available on Nintendo Switch.
Lady Thatcher has been excised from the satirical Doom WAD Thatcher’s Techbase, and is now reinstated to Bethesda’s official mod browser. Developer Jim links to it in his tweet.
Games That Weren’t have been pretty busy lately, among their recent successes is a game called Hydrogenese, an unreleased title from 1989. While it was thought lost, with key elements worked into other titles, this is the first time it has been viewable in decades.
The developer of PC celebratory retro-style title The Lost Pixel (below) has given permission for an Amiga AGA port, which is available to download on a name-your-price on Itch.io. A physical version is also available!
New PC racer Parking Garage Rally Circuit has been intentionally designed as a forgotten Sega Saturn game, and should work on Steam Deck. Unsurprisingly based on the title, you race around car parks.
Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2 (2004 and 2009) are enjoying 15th and 20th anniversary reissues on Steam, complete with DLC.
A Commodore 64 port of the 2008/2012 Windows and Xbox 360 platformer Spelunky has been released, and is available on Itch.io.
The Kickstarter campaign for The Last Ninja Collection was successful, with backers pledging £92,774, far above the £10,000 goal. Consequently, stretch goals of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X releases have been confirmed.
Super Robin is a work in progress platformer title for the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis. Keep an eye on the blog for updates, and chech out the WIP video.
A build of the original Half-Life has been found, which features unused levels and enemies. Check it out on YouTube.
Forge of the Fae is a turn-based, Celtic and Steampunk-inspired RPG with 16-bit-style 3D isometric graphics, similar to Heimdall. It is currently funding on Kickstarter and plans to launch through Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox!
Finally, news of Shadowmage, a dungeon crawler apparently coded for the Amiga way back in 1994 and then restarted in 2020. Note that the game requires an accelerator if you’re planning on playing with original hardware. Taking 30 years on a game is incredible, but then, I’m a slow player myself…
