Digital Eclipse has announced that pre-orders are now open for physical editions of titles from its acclaimed Gold Master Series: Tetris Forever, The Making of Karateka, and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story.
This initiative brings interactive documentary experiences and classic games to physical media, offering collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to own these titles in tangible formats.
Gold Master Series arrives on cartridge and disc
The Gold Master Series, dedicated to preserving and exploring the history of influential video games, will soon be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. The Making of Karateka, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, and Tetris Forever are all included in this wave of physical releases, offered in both standard and collector’s editions. This marks a significant step in preserving these titles and making them accessible to a wider audience.

The collector’s editions offer a range of exclusive content, providing deeper insights into the development process and celebrating the legacy of these games:
The Making of Karateka Deluxe Edition: This edition features a newly illustrated version of Jordan Mechner’s development journals, providing a unique perspective on the creation of Karateka. Also included are a new soundtrack CD, an enamel pin, a poster, and a specially designed outer box reminiscent of a vintage floppy disk drive.
Here’s a trailer for the digital edition of that:
Llamasoft Deluxe Box: This package, housed in a box designed to evoke a stack of 3.5” floppy disks, contains a reproduction of Jeff Minter’s first fan newsletter from 1984, light-diffraction glasses, a soundtrack CD, a reproduction of the classic Llamasoft cassette-tape case insert, and a llama-print bandana.
Tetris Forever Collector’s Edition: This edition includes a modular outer box that can be configured into Tetrimino shapes, a poster, a soundtrack CD, five woven patches, seven Tetrimino magnets, and an exclusive handheld unit pre-loaded with two classic Tetris games.
