One of the most influential RPGs of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is currently being remade by a team of fans!

Using the Unreal Engine 5 game engine, which boasts amazing 3D graphics, they’re aiming to bring the original game into the modern gaming world. The demo is a remake of Zora’s Domain, a region of the game that appears in several other entries in the series.

Created by CryZENx – who has been recreating N64 games in Unreal Engine for some time, backed by Patreon supporters – the game looks amazing, even if the demo is locked to 30fps for free supporters. Paid supports of CryZENx’s Patreon get a better deal. On the YouTube video, they write:

i have worked for this level about 1.5 months, will release all the models on my patreon shop soon, they are only for printing the models.

A look at the Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake

Want to know more? Before downloading, you can check this video of the demo, which follows an earlier release of the Zora River level.

Note that if you want to play Ocarina of Time on Windows, this isn’t the only way. The N64 Recompiled project is making it possible for original Nintendo 64 games to run on Windows. Various developers are working on bringing these games, and one team is behind the Zelda 64: Recompiled effort to bring Majora’s Mask (and later Ocarina of Time) to PC.

You can download the Unreal Engine 3 Ocarina of Time demos from the project’s Patreon, where you can also support the project. The download comes via a Google Drive repository, and is in RAR format. Extracting the contents should give you an installable (EXE) file to run on Windows.

Enjoy!
