In news that will interest very few, but is nevertheless surprising, the almost-forgotten IGS arcade games, previously released on Nintendo Switch, are coming to PC, with a release on Steam.

Based on the PolyGame Master arcade machine mainboard which was developed in 1997 to compete with the NEOGEO MVS arcade systems from SNK, the IGS collection always felt decidedly “not quite SNK.”

I mean, they look like competent games, but there’s a touch of the clone about them, if you know what I mean… As you can see in the trailer, these games look very familiar, whether you’ve played them before or not.

The IGS Classic Arcade Collection is coming to Steam in 2025, H2 Interactive tell us, with the collection’s 8 titles as follows:

  • Knights of Valour: Super Heroes
  • Knights of Valour Plus
  • Knights of Valour 2 – Nine Dragons
  • Oriental Legend
  • Oriental Legend Spooky
  • Martial Masters
  • Demon Front
  • The Gladiator

Online multiplayer supports means up to 4 players can play simultaneously, and the game also features a worldwide leaderboard. The PC version looks very similar to the Switch collection, which suggests this is more or less a total port from the console.

Steam Deck compatibility is currently unknown.

Will you play the IGS Classic Arcade Collection?

Unless you’re an absolute hardcore hack and slasher or beat-em-up aficionado, I simply don’t see this collection being on anyone’s list of wants.

IGS isn’t SNK, that much is clear; these games look fun, but they’re derivative. When the real deal is already available, opting for a cheaper knockoff seems like a waste of time to me. I’m not entirely alone in this, but in a world where this genre is easy to come by, it’s only something completists will want.
