School sports day arcade title Field Day is the latest game to join the Arcade Archives, launching on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this week.
This week’s arcade archives title has been confirmed, and it is another mid-1980s title. Field Day is the school sports day equivalent of Track & Field and similar sports games. The TAITO title was originally released in arcades in 1984, and has been left largely forgotten, overshadowed by other, more successful titles.
The game features 7 quirky challenges, exactly the sort of thing you would see in a school sports day.
Players compete in a variety of seven non-conventional sporting events from three-legged race to tug-of-war in an effort to become the sports day champion. Each event features a qualifying score which must be met to progress.

This addition to the record-breaking Arcade Archives is for 1-4 players, and is available from July 31st, 2025 on Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation 4. Costing around $8, the game comes with various enhancements.
Arcade Archives releases bring quality of life improvements to arcade machine classics like Field Day. So, you get to tweak the difficulty level, adjust the visuals to create a more authentic display experience (replicating CRTs with filters), and adds save states.
