If you love classic shooters, Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation is an old-school FPS with hand-drawn pixel graphics coming to PC via Steam later this year.
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like a boomer shooter (classic FPS to the rest of us!) and while I’ve played a few, none stand out as much as Duke Nukem 3D. Whcih is why Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation looks so interesting to me, as the main character — a sailor — has definite shades of The Duke.
He’s described as a “cigar-chomping, rum-fueled scourge of the seas” and has a good line in dialogue, too. Have a look at the trailer:
What is Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation?
This entertaining synopsis has been issued to accompany the trailer:
Fueled by the red mist of revenge, Wayne is ready to turn Orca Isle into a blood-soaked battlefield. From chain-gun fingers to explosive Boom Brew, from fruity-but-fatal coconuts and watermelons to the Captain’s own bone-breaking fists, this is one vacation that comes with no return ticket. And if all else fails, there’s always the Captain’s twin-barrel “Ol’ Reliable” shotgun arm (bolted on after a deadly dance with the fabled Vampire Whale), guaranteed to blast enemies into red mist faster than you can say “yo-ho-ho.”
Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation is brought to us by publisher Silver Lining Interactive and developed by Ciaran Games LLC. The game is coming to PC via Steam later this year, and features Captain Wayne reclaiming his stolen ship and dealing with a gang known as “The Killer Whales.” The game features:
- A brutal, stylized cartoon gore-fest, because who said bloodshed can’t be beautiful?
- 8 massive, enemy-packed areas across treacherous Orca Isle.
- An arsenal of over-the-top weapons designed for maximum, messy destruction.
- A relentlessly chaotic soundtrack, louder than a broadside cannon blast.
- Hand-drawn, fully-voiced cinematics that bring Wayne’s unhinged quest for vengeance to life.
Fancy it? Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation is coming to Steam-capable hardware later this year, and you can wishlist it now. As if that wasn’t enough, there is also a playable demo, with six playable maps! But be warned — the developers have added a warning for the game: “There is lots and lots of swearing and cursing as well as tons of blood and guts.“
