Simon the Sorcerer Origins, the long-awaited prequel to one of the most iconic adventure series of all time, has just joined Steam Next Fest.
Developed by Smallthing Studios and published by ININ Games, the demo is available now for the duration of the festival, giving players an exclusive peek at a specific section of Chapter 3. If you’ve been waiting to revisit the magical misadventures of the sarcastically-inclined Simon, this is your chance.
Original Simon the Sorcerer voices return for a new hand-drawn story
The original Simon the Sorcerer was a foundational title for many adventure game fans, known for its irreverent humor that took a hatchet to the fantasy genre. This prequel, announced for pre-order last month, aims to blend that classic charm with modern magic, revealing what happened just a few weeks before the first legendary adventure in the ’90s.
The features are designed specifically to appeal to original fans and attract new players:
- Original Voice Talent: They’ve secured Chris Barrie (English) and Erik Borner (German), the voice actors who brought Simon’s trademark humor to life in the first two games.
- New Hand-Drawn Art: The Magical World is presented in a completely hand-drawn 90s art style, giving it that gorgeous, nostalgic visual flair.
- Modern Puzzles: The game blends modern puzzle design with traditional point-and-click mechanics, ensuring the puzzles are challenging and engaging without feeling archaic.
The story promises an adventure between emotions and discovery, tackling a prophecy following a forced move.
When and where to catch the full release
The demo is exclusive to Steam Next Fest, so make sure you grab it now.

If you’re a fan of those narrative-heavy, joke-filled adventures, make sure you check out the demo while you can!
