Following on from my earlier update today, as promised, here is a video look at PLAY Expo Blackpool. Specifically, this is the main room (I omitted to take video of the trade room, but you can see a snap from it below).

As I explained in our latest newsletter:

Walking into the main room of the event is insane. Divided into coin ops (no coin required!) and classic computers, there is also a serious bank of LAN action, where the games of choice appeared to be DOOM and Counter Strike. I was more interested in rare and unusual hardware, though, like the Philips Videopac G7000 (running Monkeyshines), and the Commodore CDTV…

I spent quite a bit of time on that particular machine, having never seen one in action before. Sadly, I was a little disappointed with it insofar as playing Xenon 2: Megablast went. The only controller available was the CDTV’s remote/game controller combo, which while impressed, wasn’t up to the job of controlling a game.

The event is massive, and with pinball machines in a corridor, a trade room for magazine, game, book, and other retro gaming sellers, and a room specifically for the talks and panels, this PLAY Expo Blackpool is awesome.
