There’s an Arcade Archives sale on right now, giving you some arcade classics for a tidy discount.

Are you looking for a way to save money building your retro game library?

Well, if you have a PlayStation 4 or a Nintendo Switch, you could be in luck. The Arcade Archives has launched a special 30 percent off sale.

Ten games are up for grabs with almost one third off the retail price. Given that these are typically £5 or £6 a time, that’s not a bad deal. Keep in mind that these are digital only versions, however.

Why should you choose these games?

Original versions of arcade games are hard to come by these days. The Arcade Archives has been reissuing titles on Switch and PS4 using original arcade ROMs — often the Japanese version — for almost a decade now, and has recently announced the Arcade Archives 2 for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

The games also feature some quality of life enhancements in this format. So, display options for a retro look, difficulty settings, button remapping, that sort of thing. You can also record your score on a global scoreboard, which I think is the best feature.

Arcade Archives sale games

The retro games straight from the classic arcades that you can get for 30% off are:

  • Ordyne
  • Dig Dug
  • Youkai Douchuki
  • Gaplus
  • Pac-Land
  • Dragon Sprint
  • Dragon Buster
  • Mappy
  • The Genji and the Heike Clans
  • Pac-Man (celebrating its 45th anniversary this year)

Details on when the sale ends are not available on the website, but are displayed on the listings for the games. The 30% discount seems to run out on May 28th, 2025, so act fast to grab a bargain. I’d recommend Pac-Land if you never played it — mainly due to nostalgia for the old cartoon show. But it’s also pretty unique in the series (Pacmania is my favourite as it looked gorgeous at the time… that’s a story for another time).
