Over 41 years after its release, the ZX Spectrum remains popular among retro enthusiasts. It should therefore come as no surprise that new games are released ont he platform.
But did you ever expect to see a ZX Spectrum game running on your PC after installing it from Steam? That’s the deal with Beep’s Escape, described by developer Craig Smith as “my tribute to classic #zxspectrum games of the 80s!”
But what is Little Martian Games’ Beep’s Escape all about?
Play as Beep, a brave yet cavalier robot who is on a mission to escape from the strange tech facility that he and his fellow bots are being held captive in. Using just your wits and the items you find around you, will you help Beep find a route to safety?
Beep’s Escape features
This is an old-school platformer that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, with a bunch of nice features, including a CRT filter and ZX Spectrum loading sequence. Here’s the full list of fetaures:
- Lots of old-school platforming, some of which will test your skills.
- Puzzles galore. Use items in unusual ways to solve puzzles and progress!
- Talk to your fellow worker bots for clues and help.
- Watch out for a host of hazards, including the feared guard bots!
- Built in CRT filter and authentic ZX Spectrum loading sequence, for real retro feels!
