Bitmap Brothers Collection 1 Announced for Evercade!

The titles just keep on coming from Evercade, which has now announced The Bitmap Brothers Collection 1 cartridge!

Featuring five classic games to the Evercade from the British “rock star” developers, The Bitmap Brothers Collection 1 features a collection of titles that were huge hits on 16-bit systems, including the Amiga and Atari ST.

“It’s great to bring the Bitmap Brothers to Evercade,” said Evercade Marketing Manager, Sean Cleaver. “It’s one of the collections that we’ve been asked about from the beginning of Evercade and one we’ve been excited to bring to the Evercade devices. The Bitmap Brothers hold a special place in the heart of many gamers from the late 80s and early 90s, not just in the UK but around the world. And with the upcoming release of the Evercade VS, it’s a great showcase of multiplayer and co-op gaming from one of the British Games Industry greats.”

The collection includes:

  • The Chaos Engine
  • Speedball
  • Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
  • Speedball 2100
  • Xenon 2: Megablast

However, there may be a twist. Based on the trailer, none of these games appear to be the Amiga or Atari versions. Instead, The Chaos Engine seems to be from the SNES, Speedball from the Sega Master System, and Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe and Xenon 2: Megablast the Mega Drive versions.

And in a significant development, Speedball 2100 is a PlayStation title. If accurate (and there is no reason why it shouldn’t be) The Bitmap Brothers Collection 1 would mark the first time a 32-bit gaming system is represented on Evercade. The collection will be available in September 2021.
