Both Super Mario Galaxy games coming to Nintendo Switch in October 2025. 4K resolution and mouse support are also available for Nintendo Switch 2.

The first game I played on the Nintendo Wii way back in 2010 was Super Mario Galaxy 2. As someone who considered themselves to be a “hardcore gamer” at the time, I found the notion of as bouncy plumber having adventures to be far too trivial for my time. I had football management games, God sims, and gory FPS adventures to complete.

And then, one Sunday afternoon at my in-laws, waiting for the weekly roast to be served, I watched my nieces play it. When one died, she gave me the controller — it was my turn.

I absolutely sucked. But the game — spinning the Wiimote, collecting stars — was just so much fun! You don’t get that with strategy titles, you know?

With all of that in mind, I’m thrilled to see that Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. This immense 7-minute overview has been produced by Nintendo to reacquaint the world.

The video description tells us:

Two galactic adventures await! Soar through the vast corners of the galaxy, explore and discover all sorts of planets, and use different cosmic power-ups to transform as you put a stop to Bowser’s nefarious plans. Plus, a new chapter has been added to the Storybook in Super Mario Galaxy…and a new Storybook appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2! You can also enable the newly added Assist Mode for a smoother space adventure.

When can you get Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2?

While Nintendo Switch gamers will enjoy the enhanced graphics, Switch 2 owners can benefit from a full 4K remaster, as well as mouse mode support. There is also an Assist Mode to help younger and inexperienced gamers.

Both games will be available for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 5th.

They are available to pre-order in digital-only form from the eShop costing £69.99 ($69.99) for the pair. Alternatively, you can order the physical version of Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Amazon, with a pre-launch discount if you’re quick.
