Bad news has hit the world of retro gaming. A truck carrying Evercade EXP Limited Editions has been the subject of a targeted robbery.
This was announced on the Evercade Twitter feed yesterday, just 18 days before Christmas.
Further details were announced on the Evercade website, in a blog post by CEO Andrew Byatt.
This stock was moving between warehouses for despatch to all UK, USA, and rest of world customers – all of the stock was taken in this terrible, possibly organised attack. EU stock was not affected and has arrived in Funstock’s European warehouse successfully.
Since learning of the crime, we have been tirelessly working behind the scenes, liaising with the Police, evaluating the situation, and defining a plan of action that we can communicate to our customers and fans as accurately and as quickly as possible.
The Evercade EXP Limited Editions were stolen “during the early hours of December 6th.” Byatt reports that information has been shared wirh the police. To confirm, this affects Evercade EXP Limited Edition consoles.
Evercade EXP Limited Edition orders on Funstock.co.uk outside of EU countries was stolen. This does not affect any standard white editions which will release as planned. Nor does it affect EXP Limited Editions ordered from EU countries.
The standard white Evercade EXP will be available from December 15th.
Stating their belief that customers are the victims, the Blaze Entertainment team have begun steps to reward those affected.
We recognise that this will be disappointing for our customers and as a mark of our gratitude for their patience while we remanufacture the goods, we will be creating a list of “Heroes” which will be added to our EXP console credits, thanking those people that stuck by us at this time. We will also add a screen protector set into the reproduced goods and Funstock will include a 20% off voucher on a future order.
Meamwhile, although we don’t know the details of the police investigation, there have been rumours online of stolen stock turning up online. And, sadly, a small group of affected pre-order buyers have not taken the news well, accusing Blaze Entertainment of screwing up, peddling vapourware, etc. Blaze’s previous issues with missing targeted release dates won’t have helped with the reaction of these individuals, of course…
To confirm, if you ordered the standard Evercade EXP, it will continue to be available from December 15th. Only the Evercade EXPs for UK, US, and Rest of the World customers were affected, so if you’re in the EU, you should be receiving an EXP as expected.
Affected Evercade EXP limited edition pre-order buyers should check their emails for details of what happens next.
