Incredibly, there was more to last week’s “GoldenEye Update” on Nintendo Switch Online than you thought.
Fixes to other games were included, but you really want to know what has been uncovered by Twitter-based dataminer OatmealDome.
It makes for quite interesting reading:
– GoldenEye 007 added.
– If you want to play online, you have to create a lobby and have friends join.
– No “modern” controls like the Xbox version.
– The Q Watch music does have the gongs and static.
That point about the Q watch music relates to claims that some audio elements from the original were missing in the released version. Presumably the audio loss is an HDMI cable/hearing issue?
(We’ve already shown you how to improve GoldenEye‘s controls.)
Of most interest, perhaps, is this:
A completely new ROM!?
Several other minor changes were made to the gaming environment. There is a change to a boss segment in Yoshi’s Story, while Mario Party and Mario Party 2 executables were updated, although OatmealDome states “I’m not sure what changed there.”
Are you playing GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo Switch? Or are you revisiting it on Xbox Game Pass? Whatever your platform, I hope you’re enjoying revisiting one of the best games of the 1990s.
