We talk about GoldenEye 007 a lot on Gaming Retro, but there is a reason for that: it is one of the most influential games of its era. FPS games all the way back to DOOM make a crucial diversion via GoldenEye 007, a game developed by a young team at Rare in the mid-1990s.

“There’s a movie license done by a small team of inexperienced developers and somehow ended up being you know the greatest first person shooter of its era.”

Set for release through Altitude on June 27th, GoldenEra is directed by Drew Roller and written by Roller with Brok Power.

GOLDENERA tells the incredible inside story of the creation and legacy of GoldenEye 007, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

One of the greatest video games ever made, GoldenEye 007 was released for the Nintendo 64 in the summer of 1997 after two and a half years of gruelling hours, missed deadlines and an unwavering commitment to perfection. Developed in a farmhouse in Warwickshire by a small ragtag team of university graduates, most of whom had never worked on a game before, this iconic first-person shooter surpassed all expectations and went on to change gaming forever.

Told through interviews with the very people who created the revolutionary game, along with leading game journalists and industry professionals, GOLDENERA captures an unmissable moment in the history of gaming.

But, how can you watch GoldenEra?

Productions on Altitude are typically released through key streaming services, such as Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Apple TV, Rakuten TV, etc. If you have access to any of these, there is a good chance that you can learn more about the development of THE best James Bond video game.
