GoldenEye Far Cry 5 Looks Amazing, But Does It Lack N64 Charm?

GoldenEye Far Cry 5 Looks Amazing, But Does It Lack N64 Charm?

A talented modder has spent several years making a GoldenEye Far Cry 5 modification – and it looks amazing!

The desire to bring the seminal 90s Nintendo 64 shooter GoldenEye 007 up to modern gaming standards never seems to let up.

Over the years we’ve had the official Nintendo update for Wii (GoldenEye 007: Reloaded), complete with Daniel Craig’s likeness replacing original star Pierce Brosnan. There has also been the abandoned Xbox 360 GoldenEye 007 (which recently came to light).

Various other games have sported GoldenEye 007 themed mods, but none of them have the stunning realism of the GoldenEye Far Cry 5 mod. Created by YouTuber Krollywood, the mod looks simply amazing and brings the low-fi Nintendo 64 graphics into stunning HD (or even 4).

I’m a big fan of editors and GoldenEye 007, so I worked for 2.5 years on my own GoldenEye-Remake on PS4 with FarCry 5. 😍 All 18 level are full playable with high details and eastereggs. Some of the original levels are combined to one FarCry level. Here are some comparison pics N64/PS4. 😊

How to Play GoldenEye 007 Mod on Far Cry 5

In a direct message to website Kotaku, Krollywood revealed the project has taken an immense 1,400 hours of work.

But how can you play this pixel-perfect GoldenEye 007 remake? Naturally, you’ll need a copy of Far Cry 5 and a PS4 to play. Then you can search the mods list for it, install it, and with enough practice, get… Onatopp of things.

Krollywood has also uploaded walkthroughs of various levels from the mod so you can get a decent look at it before downloading.

While stunning and seemingly better than the Nintendo Wii version, this Far Cry 5 mod lacks a bit of the charm from the original. Or is it just me?
