Calling all meat-battling heroes! Retroware is firing up the excitement with the first major content update for their hit game, Iron Meat! This update, available now on all platforms, packs a punch of new features and improvements to keep you blasting through those meaty hordes.
Gear Up for Mirror Mode: Ever feel like things are getting a little stale? Mirror Mode throws a wild card into the mix by flipping the entire game on its axis! That’s right, you’ll be navigating levels and dodging enemies while running to the LEFT. This fresh perspective adds a whole new layer of challenge for seasoned players.
Supercharge Your Arsenal: Feeling underpowered? No worries! Picking up a third copy of the same weapon upgrade now unlocks Supercharge mode. This rapid-fire powerup turns your gun into a bullet-spewing beast, making mincemeat (pun intended) out of your enemies. Bullets fired in Supercharge mode are also colored red for an extra dose of visual flair.
Enhanced Visuals and More! The update doesn’t stop at gameplay – Iron Meat‘s environments are getting a visual upgrade as well. You’ll see new background details like exploding meteors and helicopter support in certain levels. Additionally, the default damage of the E, U, and M guns has been increased, offering a slight edge in combat.
The update also introduces a quality-of-life improvement: extra lives earned in one level now carry over to the next, as long as you finish with more lives than you started. This small change can make a big difference in your overall survival.
Iron Meat first entered development back in 2017. Here’s a video that charts the game’s evolution, from Contra-esque run-and-gun to the Meat-infested classic it became:
