“It’s coming next week!” “That announcement was code for GoldenEye on the Xbox!” “Trust me, it’s out there.”
Just three of the comments I’ve seen concerning the almost mythical official release of GoldenEye 007 on the Xbox since its leak in 2021.
And now, it seems, the date of the Xbox Gamescom show coincides with the anniversary of the original Nintendo 64 release of GoldenEye 007 back in 1997.
Not just any anniversary, either. No, this is the 25th anniversary.
Which in the heads of the GoldenEye seekers, makes it doubly significant…
Of course, there is no way of knowing when or if the game will get an official release on Xbox, over 12 years since the project was culled and essentially replaced with Quantum of Solace.
At this stage, if it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, we’ve always got Xenia (Onatopp?).
