Limited Run Games has just announced a significant shift in how they handle leftover stock: The Vault. This new system replaces the annual Blowout Sale and all recurring “second chance” sales, offering a more streamlined and consistent approach to acquiring those games you might have missed the first time around.
Instead of waiting for specific sale events, The Vault will be regularly updated with available stock. Games enter The Vault after manufacturing is complete and all pre-orders have been shipped. Limited Run Games explained that they always produce extra copies to account for various factors like damages, lost packages, and convention stock. These extras, after pre-orders are fulfilled, are what populate The Vault.

One key detail is the waiting period. While Standard Editions may appear in The Vault relatively quickly, those looking for Standard Editions of games with Collector’s Editions will have to wait until all Collector’s Editions have been shipped. This ensures all pre-orders are accounted for before leftover stock is made available.
The biggest advantage of The Vault? It’s a permanent fixture. Limited Run Games has confirmed that it will be continuously updated, meaning there will always be something new to discover. However, they’ve also cautioned that stock will be limited and can sell out very quickly, especially if items are discounted.
Limited Run Games is not unlimited…
Perhaps the most crucial piece of information for collectors is that once an item leaves The Vault, it will never be available again on the Limited Run Games website. This makes it a true last chance for those who missed the initial pre-order window. Limited Run Games strongly recommends pre-ordering games during their initial sale period if you’re determined to add them to your collection. The Vault offers a second chance, but it’s not a guarantee.
