THQ’s colourful platform-puzzler series, de Blob, has been revealed to have a long lost Nintendo DS port!

Originally releasing on the Nintendo Wii in 2008, the DS port was meant to follow along with development being outsourced to Helixe. The port was then cancelled early into the development process.

Just over a week ago, a YouTuber known as RebelTaxi had shared a video and tweet of an early build they forgot they owned for years. The prototype was sent to them anonymously by someone who was associated with Helixe. The ROM consists of three playable levels with the first one completely polished. RebelTaxi has provided footage of the gameplay and details of his perspective on the game.

de Blob’s ROM is available for download! The premise of the game is to paint a town of landmarks using the trail of colours. There is no pressure for time and you have to paint at least a third of the city’s buildings, cars and even the entire Earth! de Blob initially started as a student project (as reported by Gaming Alexandria) in the Netherlands and went onto sell over 700,000 copies globally.

The game also received a sequel in 2011 and is available to play on later consoles like the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. It even has a DS port! It’s amusing to see how the tables have turned.
