Irem Collection Volume 2

Irem, a name synonymous with arcade excellence in the 80s and 90s, is returning to consoles with its second volume of classic titles. This collection brings together three iconic shooters, each offering a unique blend of challenge and nostalgia.

  • GunForce I and II: Step into the shoes of a lone soldier or team up with a friend to battle through explosive missions. These top-down shooters feature a variety of weapons and vehicles, making for intense and action-packed gameplay. SNES and arcade versions of Gunforce are included, and this is the first console release of Gunforce II!

  • Air Duel: Soar through the skies in a helicopter or fighter jet and take on enemy forces. With its stunning visuals and challenging missions, Air Duel provides an exhilarating aerial combat experience. Air Duel was a Japan-only release originally, and again never had a console release until this collection!

Irem Collection Volume 2 offers modern conveniences like rewind and save-state features, allowing players to tackle these challenging games at their own pace. However, for those seeking an authentic arcade experience, classic mode and online leaderboards are also included.

Alongside the standard version, Strictly Limited Games is releasing highly limited physical editions of Irem Collection Volume 2 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. These collector’s editions come packed with exclusive goodies, including original soundtracks, art books, and more.

Unleash hell in retro FPS SPRAWL, coming to consoles

Prepare to dive into a brutal and stylish cyberpunk world this November as SPRAWL, the gory and gratifying movement shooter from developer MAETH, launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Avenge your past in a neon-drenched city

Take control of SEVEN, a disgraced former special ops soldier haunted by a past massacre. Now exiled on the fringes of the sprawling megacity known only as SPRAWL, a chance for redemption emerges from the shadows. A mysterious voice emerges in your head, introducing itself as FATHER and offering a path to atonement. The price? Dismantle the corrupt military regime holding the city in its iron grip.

Have a look at this:

Embrace the chaos

Drawing inspiration from classic anime like Akira and Ghost in the Shell, and with a 2000s retro FPS feel, SPRAWL blends high-octane action with a visually stunning world influenced by real-world phenomena like Kowloon Walled City. Become a one-woman army as you utilize the powerful Icarus cybernetic implant to defy gravity with wall-runs, slow down time to outmaneuver enemies, and unleash a symphony of destruction.

The streets of SPRAWL are a battleground. Master a deadly ballet of gunplay and movement as you unleash a torrent of bullets, slice through enemies with deadly precision, and utilize the environment to your advantage. Think strategically and adapt to diverse enemy types, from SMG-wielding elites to riot guards and mechanical hounds. Each encounter presents a puzzle to be solved, rewarding you with increased ammo, health boosts, and more as you carve a bloody path to redemption.

Get ready to unleash hell

SPRAWL’s dynamic industrial soundtrack reacts to your actions, creating a pulse-pounding atmosphere that reflects the intensity of the combat. Follow SEVEN’s journey as she grapples with her past and fights for redemption amidst the neon-drenched chaos of SPRAWL.

Retroware Announces Iron Meat Limited Metal Edition

Retroware is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the Iron Meat Limited Metal Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. This highly anticipated edition will feature a limited run of the game, a stunning metal slipcase, an original soundtrack download, and a 40-page manual.

As the original physical edition sold out pretty quickly, this is welcome news!

Iron Meat is a retro-style run and gun game that pits players against hordes of monstrous meat creatures. The game features nine challenging levels, local two-player co-op, a variety of unlockable skins, and a fantastic soundtrack.

I received a copy of the game a few weeks ago and confirm that it is a lot of fun. It has definite replayability, too, and offers more than linear left-to-right shooting. Iron Meat is worth checking out.

The Metal Edition will also include additional in-game content, which will be revealed at a later date.

Pre-orders for the Metal Edition will open in December 2023.

(Iron Meat is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.)
