Indie Heroes Collection 1 is one of the most popular Evercade cartridges produced, but is now set to be retired from production.

Blaze Entertainment has confirmed that four Evercade titles are being added to the roster of retired collections. The news was shared on X and in a blog post, where the four collections were confirmed.

The latest cartridges to be retired are:

These are now considered “legacy cartridges.” They’re no longer produced because the licencing agreement to ship the games has expired. Some retailers may retain units, but these will not be replenished, and damaged items can no longer be replaced.

Sad news!

No more Indie Heroes Collection 1

The Indie Heroes Collection 1 was one of the most important titles to the early years of the Evercade platform. After the release of the Evercade VS, and the testing of its online hardware and update servers, titles from the collection were issued to VS owners monthly, for the Game of the Month incentive.

So, gamers not only had a reason to check back with their Evercade VS (and EXP) and update — they had a playable free version of an indie game each month.

As such, it is a shame that the Indie Heroes Collection 1, more than the other three carts, is being retired.

The four collections will enter legacy status from December 2025. If you don’t already own any of these collections, now is the time to seek them out before they start going for funny money on eBay!
