The Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries for Nintendo Switch Online are continuing expansion later this year with announced game releases such as Pokémon Trading Card Game and Kirby’s Tilt ‘N’ Tumble. However, it looks like there may be more games on the way than expected.
Nintendo had filed a trademark which may give an idea of potential new releases. This process has shown to be dependable way to gather information on Nintendo’s planned releases. There are revised trademarks for games such as Zelda‘s Oracle games, Kirby’s Tilt ‘N’ Tumble and Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.
New filings for two trademarks for Game Boy games were made in mid-February. These include 1990’s vertical scrolling shoot-em-up Solar Striker and 2005’s tactical RPG Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. While these games haven’t received official announcements, they are highly sought after games from fans. Definitely something to keep an eye out for, despite the absence of confirmation.
There is still no exact release window for the next round of GB/GBA releases. Having the initial releases of both libraries approximately two months ago, it’s hard to say when Nintendo plan to introduce the next batch. Nevertheless, it’s still exciting to know of the possibilities!
I am a media and pop culture enthusiast and love Nintendo and indie games, particularly Zelda and Stardew Valley. When I’m not gaming you’ll find me writing, creating fanart, and playing music covers of my favourite games!
