Found across the UK’s seafront amusements, holiday parks, and theme parks, Aqua Jet has now splashed onto the Arcade Archives.

Sometimes I write these Arcade Archive release guide news items with very little idea of the games. Other times, I can recall playing once or twice, but that’s about it. With Aqua Jet, however, it’s a totally different situation.

I spent a bit too much time on this game at various holiday locations around the UK, including (but not limited to) Blackpool, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Skegness, and Redcar. All in all, Aqua Jet is a pretty memorable title, but if you’re new to it, here’s the Arcade Archives synopsis:

“AQUA JET” is a marine sports game released by NAMCO LIMITED (current Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.) in 1996. This game stood out at arcades at the time thanks to its large jet ski-style cabinet. Savor the thrill of racing across shimmering waves under the blazing sun in a stunning, resort-like setting brought to life by the “System Super 22” hardware!

But wait until you see it in action!

The Arcade Archives reissue of Aqua Jet

The record-breaking Arcade Archives series of releases adds various quality of life features to games for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 has also been launched for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, along with Xbox Series X|S — titles in that series get more enhanced upgrades, but expanding the platform support also means increased prices.

With the original library, you can expect improved visual options, including CRT filters, save states, customizable difficulty settings, and scores can be shared on a global table.

You can learn more about this reissue of Aqua Jet on the Arcade Archives website.
