Alomg with news of the Evercade EXP, two new Evercade cartridges were also announced at the second anniversary event. These both include games that will be able to take advantage of the EXP’s TATE (vertical) mode.

These are the first Evercade cartridges featuring IREM and Toaplan titles, with some well-known games mixed in with the usual under-the-radar fare.

IREM Arcade 1

The first collection from IREM features six great arcade games, all for 1 or 2 players. You’ll notice from the trailer above that R-Type is among the games. Here’s the full list:

  • Moon Patrol
  • 10-Yard Fight
  • R-Type
  • Battle Chopper
  • In the Hunt
  • Lightning Swords

Of these games, Lightning Swords has never been officially released for a consumer device.

Toaplan Arcade 1

Meanwhile, the Toaplan Arcade 1 cart boasts eight games from Toaplan across the developer’s 80s and 90s collection. Included are:

  • Tiger Heli
  • Alcon
  • Flying Shark
  • Truxton
  • Zero Wing
  • Guardian
  • Snow Bros.
  • Teki Paki

With the release of the Evercade EXP, you might be wondering if these Evercade cartridges will work with your system. Of course they do! While many of the games in these carts have a vertical mode, they can still be played on a standard Evercade handheld or the Evercade VS.

The IREM and Toaplan Evercade cartridges are released in “Winter 2022” and can be pre-ordered from September 2022.
