If there’s one thing that can get me interested in a game, it’s the art style and boy am I hyped for this one?! Produced with the Game Boy Advance in mind, we have the all new action-packed platformer, GoodBoy Galaxy.

This game is also going to be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam, so it’s open to multiple generations of platforms. Now I personally do not own a GBA, but the closest I have is the cartridge slot of my half broken DS lite. It feels so good to have multiple options! With its humble beginnings as a game jam project, it went onto have its own Kickstarter and now its very own website (www.goodboygalaxy.com) where you can sign up for updates on the project.

With the developers paying homage to the likes of Metroid and Cave Story, they also explain the sole reason why they decided to release a GBA game:

“We’re celebrating our 20 year old friend, the Game Boy Advance, because we think it’s fun / interesting!”

You adventure through colourful lands, and meet many foes along the way and many of the NPCs are based on cute little animals. That’s certainly another bonus! Its fluid and bouncy pixel animation is so satisfying to the eye. That’s not all though, as the team are hoping to expand to other platforms.

Release dates have not yet been confirmed and the team are underway with polishing up the GBA version before tackling the Switch port. If you have any questions about the game, you can subscribe to their mailing list for updates or contact the developers @hot_pengu and @exelotl on Twitter.
