Nintendo Promises More N64 Games for Switch Online – Does This Include GoldenEye 007?

Last Updated on July 15, 2022

It’s finally starting to find its feet with added stability, but Switch Online has been short of new N64 games of late aside from Pokémon Puzzle League. Will GoldenEye 007 and other classic games be arriving on the platform any time soon?

Following the announcement of Pokémon Puzzle League, Nintendo of America’s Twitter account reassured fans with this tweet:

At the time of writing, the list of N64 games on Switch Online looks like this:

  • Super Mario 64
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Mario Kart 64
  • Lylat Wars
  • Yoshi’s Story
  • Sin & Punishment
  • Dr. Mario 64
  • Mario Tennis
  • OPERATION WINBACK
  • Paper Mario
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
  • F-Zero X
  • Mario Golf
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
  • Pokémon Snap
  • Pokémon Puzzle League

It’s not a huge list, and misses games like Perfect Dark, Bomberman, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Super Smash Bros. and many others besides GoldenEye 007. Of course, the James Bond barnstormer is the game everyone has been waiting for ever since N64 support was added to the Switch.

Which begs the question: why is it taking so long? With regular claims over the past six months that GoldenEye 007 is coming to the Switch Online “next week” it has been a long wait so far. But as it isn’t the only decent game still missing from the platform, and given the issues N64 games had when first re-introduced, let’s hope the delay is down to vigorous testing rather than any IP rights nonsense…
