If you’re a fan of ZX Spectrum nostalgia (or just curious what the Spectrum looked like through the modern lens), Langford Productions is a must-bookmark resource. Richard Langford has relaunched his site, which collects not just his Spectrum-to-PC remakes, but a treasure trove of retro art, cassette inlays, and downloadable classics.
I was browsing Facebook earlier when I saw this post in a group called “ZX Spectrum”.

So, I naturally checked it out.
What I found
Hosted on a modern, polished website, Langford’s catalogue spans dozens of games, remakes, and homebrew projects. Some highlights include:
- Manic Miner — classic platforming, remade for modern PCs
- Chuckie Egg — the beloved 8-bit classic delivered anew
- The Pyramid — a Spectrum-era shooter-maze game, rebuilt for PC
- Jumping Jack — a faithful remake of the early Spectrum favourite
- Pippo — a lesser-known Spectrum game revived for modern platforms
- The Hunch — a Windows remake of the arcade/Spectrum title Hunchback
- Highway Encounter — another top-tier Spectrum action-shooter getting new life
- Cookie & Psst — remakes of iconic titles from the 8-bit era
- Frank N Stein, River Rescue, Bat ’n’ Ball and Monkey Plant — among many others spanning action, platformer and puzzle genres
- Project ZX / Project ZX II (Jetboot Joe) — retro-style shooters inspired by classic Spectrum aesthetics, featuring homages to over 100 games.
I’ll be honest, Project ZX looks superb, check this video:
The collection of media and games on the site gives newcomers a solid mix of 80s memories (reimagined for modern Windows systems), plus obscure or forgotten titles that deserve another chance in the spotlight.
I feel fortunate — this is the second time in the past week when I have stumbled across an internet gem via Facebook. (In fact, it made me nostalgic for StumbleUpon.com — happier times on the web!)
But Langford Productions isn’t just about playable games. The site also boasts:
- Vector art of almost every Spectrum model ever made — perfect for fans, artists or anyone making their own retro-themed media
- Completely redrawn “software house” logos — a nice touch for retro preservation or fan-projects
- Custom cassette inlays — redone for the latest homebrew games, making them feel like they’ve come straight out of the 1980s tape racks
- A growing archive of 1970s & 1980s British kids’ comics memorabilia — because nostalgia rarely fits into just one box
