Perfect Dark, a spiritual successor to GoldenEye 007, is now playable on PC thanks to an unofficial port

This completely unofficial release is thanks to an unofficial port by GitHub user fgsfdsfgs. The port adds new features such as mouselook, widescreen support, and FOV, and is reportedly in a mostly functional state. However, it is only available on 32-bit operating systems and has some bugs.

What is Perfect Dark?

Perfect Dark is a first-person shooter (FPS) video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 (N64) in 2000.

The game follows Joanna Dark, an agent of the Carrington Institute research centre, as she attempts to stop an extraterrestrial conspiracy by rival corporation dataDyne. The game’s campaign mode features a variety of levels, each with its own unique objectives. Players must use a variety of weapons and gadgets to complete the levels and defeat enemies.

Perfect Dark is considered to be one of the greatest FPS games of all time. It was influential in the development of the genre, and its innovative gameplay mechanics are still used in FPS games today.

In addition to the N64 version, Perfect Dark was also ported to the Game Boy Color in 2000. A reboot of the game is currently in development for the Xbox Series X/S and PC, and is expected to be released in 2023.

This unofficial Perfect Dark PC port can be downloaded from the fgsfdfgs GitHub. Note that it is only suitable for 32-bit systems.
