Game designer Tony Warriner and pixel art legend Stoo Cambridge’s UrbX Warriors is coming in 2026, with an Amiga version to follow.
Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, UrbX Warriors is set for release in the first half of 2026. A top-down explorer with zombies, the game is for Spectrum Next, with Windows, Mac, and Linux versions also set to release on the first wave. Following that, other versions are planned, including UrbX Warriors on Amiga AGA systems.
What is UrbX Warriors?
The game is being built from scratch, like a traditional game, by Tony Warriner (Beneath a Steel Sky) and with art by Stoo Cambridge (Cannon Fodder, Sensible World of Soccer). Here’s what to expect:
- UrbX Warriors is an arcade-adventure brim full of action, story and puzzles
- Super easy to pick up and play, with story and depth slowly revealed
- Journey into the deepest hellscape, defeat the heart of evil, then escape alive
- You will discover secrets, hidden areas, easter eggs and humour
- Pixel art graphics hand drawn by pixel legend, Stoo Cambridge
- Coded by 8bit and Revolution Sofware stalwart, Tony Warriner
- Play on Windows, Mac, Linux and Spectrum Next
- Awesome Sound Effects
- Mesmerising Musical Score
- Guaranteed free from generative AI, DLC or IAP
- When you buy this game, you will actually own it – forever!
I chatted with Stoo Cambridge yesterday for next week’s Gaming Retro Podcast, and he told me that the UrbX Warriors Kickstarter — which raised over £39,000 despite a modest £6,000 target — is now closed.
Well, that’s the official line… Stoo also told me that the campaign was still open, and closing it was still on the list of things to do.
So, while it is closing imminently, you can still back UrbX Warriors on Kickstarter! While basic perks are gone, a few physical release options remain available, so now would seem to be a good time to grab the opportunity before the Kickstarter finally closes.
