We often report on new games being developed for retro consoles, but we rarely see one being made to run on so many. Space Cavern Blaster is a submission for a Retro Game Jam being held on Itch.io.

The game jam’s theme is ‘Underground,’ which explains Space Cavern Blaster‘s aesthetics, and there are a couple of short trailers on YouTube showing gameplay from the C64 and Amiga versions.

Developer Dotmos hasn’t revealed what the future holds for the title but is already working on updates, as what’s been shown was rushed to completion for the Game Jam. Even in its current state, the levels don’t take long to get intricate and challenging. If you’re a fan of sadistic platformers like VVVVVV and I Wanna Be The Guy, this could be a title to keep an eye on.

Since the submission for the Retro Game Jam, Dotmos has already updated the game with bug fixes and several new levels and enemies. If you want to keep up to date with the title, make sure to check out the Itch.io page. You can also download the demo for various platforms (including Amiga 500, Atari ST, C64, DOS and Sega Mega Drive) or play it in your browser.
