Did you know that seminal Amiga soccer tapper Sensible World of Soccer had its own national world cup competition? The SWOS world cup, “Sensible Days 2025,” is this year’s event, taking place in the Netherlands.

Scheduled on the weekend of July 26-27, the competition is open to anyone to enter. Familiarity with the game is a good idea, of course. Currently, Sensible World of Soccer is played on PC or Amiga, available as annual updates with custom databases that reflect current football squads.

Taking place in Schokland, at a venue known as De Pionier, it is just one hour from Amsterdam. It has 44 beds, with B&B at 170 euros for the two nights. SWOS will be played on PC on the Saturday and on the Amiga on the Sunday, with some other games also likely, along with the Xbox version of SWOS.

Warning: hardcore SWOS players are remarkably good.

Some places are still free. You can find full details on the Sensible Days website.
