1995 FPS classic Star Wars: Dark Forces is being remastered by Nightdive Studios, with the news accompanied by a YouTube video.
The game features up to 4K graphical support, 120fps, and advanced 3D rendering for cutscenes. A release for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch has been pencilled in.
Remastered using the KEX Engine (as with the recent Quake and Quake II remasters), Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster promises beyond high definition gameplay on current systems. Essentially, while the graphics won’t enjoy the depth of current games, they have been updated adequately. While they will still look a bit blocky, motion should be smoother and the game more playable through modern displays.
Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and fully remastered through our KEX engine, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster supports up to 4K at 120FPS and features advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, trophies and achievements, and more!
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is coming soon to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Stay tuned for a release date announcement later this year!
Further news on the release date will be shared later this year, which suggests a 2024 launch.
