There are so many endless cool things to do in Minecraft and with the assistance of mods, it feels as though anything is possible. But sometimes when skilled players can boast that they created something amazing without mods, we have no choice but to respectfully acknowledge it.

A Minecraft player has created a functional and playable Super Mario Bros NES game, complete with sound effects and textures thanks to resource packs. This project has been undertaken many times by Minecraft players but they had been aided by mods and hacks that eased the tedious nature of building. This player managed to recreate the very first level, taking the time to download and create the blocks and backdrops. He challenged himself to complete it in 5 days, before the end of 2022!

The creator of this non-modded Mario game, who goes by ClouserLightStar on Reddit, shared a video of his work, detailing all the steps he took each day and what programs were used to create text and sprites. All that was left to do was press ‘Start’ and enjoy the iconic side-scroller in a completely different game engine!
