We’ve been a bit guilty in ignoring the Super Mario Bros movie, mainly because it’s very much not a classic video game, but also because Chris Pratt.

But by ignoring thus far, it means we can get excited when we see this, the N64-style trailer for the Super Mario Bros movie by King Bob Gaming. Scene-for-scene, shot-for-shot, the Super Mario 64 version, made with authentic game assets, is an absolute triumph.

If anything, it’s made me interested in seeing the movie, Chris Pratt* be damned.

Can’t see the join? Here’s the “real” trailer for the movie, set for an April 2023 launch:

Whichever Mario skin you prefer, the fact remains that you won’t be able to escape Mario (or Chris Pratt, for that matter) in 2023.

*Chris Pratt is currently starring in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and will also be seen in 2023 in The Super Mario Bros Movie and The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, as well as Garfield in 2024. Chris Pratt is not stalking you.
