Two separate collections of TAITO’s Ray-series of vertical shooters are set for release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2023.
Also known as Gunlock or Galactic Attack beyond Japan, the original RayForce was introduced in February 1994 on the TAITO F3 arcade unit, and was followed by RayStorm and RayCrisis. These sequels moved away from the sprite-based graphics of the original and instead relied on then-cutting edge polygon-based 3D graphics.
Pre-orders for ININ Games’ RayStorm x RayCrisis HD Collection begin soon. This collection combines the best of the Ray-series at an affordable 39.99 EUR/USD. The collection includes the original RayStorm and RayCrisis plus HD versions of each. The collection will be available as a download or in a boxed collection, and features:
- RayStorm
- RayStorm NEO HD
- RayCrisis
- RayCrisis HD
In addition, the original Ray’z Arcade Chronology collection is also being released in the west. This TAITO collection adds the original RayForce, and will be available for digital download for 49.99 USD/EUR. The collection includes:
- RayForce
- RayStorm
- RayStorm NEO HD
- RayCrisis
- RayCrisis HD
As with previously rereleased TAITO classics, the collections include original and HD graphic, along with soundtrack and other additional features.
