UPDATE: The Meating, a new puzzle platformer for the NES, has begun shipping as of March 27th, 2024.
The Meating, a new puzzle platformer for the NES, is coming to Kickstarter on October 27th, 2023! This curious game features a ghost minotaur protagonist who employs an array of ghost skills to navigate platforming levels, while collecting meat (to pull himself together…no, really), and solve the mystery behind his untimely demise.
Andrew Marsh, Grill Design Master at Mega Cat Studios, explains “This is some good beef we’ve cooked up for the fans. Aged well and grilled at just the right temperature, it just needs this last finishing touch before it’s ready to serve!”
Backers of the Kickstarter campaign will enjoy exclusive rewards such as a wagyu Limited Edition cartridge, Nintendo Switch codes, and posters.
The Meating’s Game Boy Advance tiers
While intended for the NES, the game also has several Game Boy Advance (GBA) edition tiers. For example, there is The Sirloin Supporter which delivers to you The Meating with the GBA edition, complete with a collector’s box and a digital bundle.
Or you can opt for the Brisket Bacchus tier with a GBA edition, a Nintendo Switch digital copy, a mouthwatering poster, and a carnivorous allegiance pin. Or if you want to go full fat meat, the Hearty Helping tier gives you a GBA edition, a NES boxed copy of The Meating, plus an additional poster and pin.
Mina Figueroa, Marketing Lead for The Meating, expressed her enthusiasm for the new tiers: “We wanted to give our backers a handheld experience that’s as satisfying as a perfectly grilled steak. The Game Boy Advance tiers are our way of bringing the pixelated delights of The Meating to a new level of portability.”
Sink Your Teeth into Exhilarating Rewards
Alongside the GBA tiers, The Meating team has also launched a Gleam contest, offering you the chance to win a free NES edition. This will run alongside the Kickstarter campaign and can be accessed on the official website (note this has now closed).
You can find more information on The Meating at the Mega Cat Studios website or on the Kickstarter campaign page.
