Good news for fans of retro computing podcast The Retro Hour: it’s Kickstarter crowdfunder for a book of key interviews from the show has hit its target, meaning the book will be produced.
Additionally, The Retro Hour Book received enough funding to hit the stretch goal, resulting in some bonus interviews.
In a message to backers of the Kickstarter, the team wrote:
Thanks so much to 765 of you who have brought The Retro Hour book to life!
Not only did we make the Kickstarter target, we shot past the stretch goal as well, which means we will be bringing you 4 extra exclusive interviews!
We will be sending out the reward surveys soon, so please keep an eye on your inbox and Kickstarter notifications. And stay tuned for more updates over the next few months as we get closer to having the books in your hands.
Thanks again for making our dream a reality.
Dan, Ravi & Joe
The Retro Hour Book‘s additional interviews were unlocked when the project hit £35,000 and are as follows:
- Motohiro Kawashima – Composer of some of the best video game soundtracks of all time, including the amazing Streets of Rage 2, 3 and 4, Eye of the Beholder and Batman Returns.
- Dylan Cuthbert – The main programmer behind Star Fox and Star Fox 2.
- Henk Nieborg – One of the world’s best pixel artists, best known for his work on games like Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, Lionheart, The Misadventures of Flink and many more.
- Andrew Braybrook – Creator of classics like Uridium 1 and 2, Paradroid, Gribbly’s Day Out and the brilliant platformer, Fire and Ice.
That’s quite an upgrade!
If you missed your chance to back The Retro Hour Book, don’t worry. In their most recent show, the team announced additional copies would be printed when the backers’ editions ship in July 2023.
