No, we’re not making this up. THEC64 Fragrance for men, and other retro aromas, are available for your post-shave routine this Christmas.
In what is perhaps the most ridiculous and certainly the most audacious release of retro gaming related merchandise, yourChristmass stocking could be bursting with premium fragrances inspired by some of the most iconic retro gaming consoles: THEC64, The Spectrum, ZX80 and ZX81.
One presumes, this is less Old Spice and Embassy No 3, and more the smell of fresh plastic polystyrene, maybe with a whiff of ozone from the power supply unit.

Or perhaps the aroma of pleather, fondue, New Romantic guyliner, and Sodastream.
Here’s how this collection of scents based on plastic cases and rubber keys is described:
- THEC64 Fragrance Pour Homme – Powerful and sophisticated with citrus, florals, and a rich patchouli-musk base.
- The Spectrum Fragrance Pour Homme – A bold signature of vibrant bergamot, woody warmth, and musky depth.
- ZX80 Eau de Parfum – Elegant and feminine with sparkling florals, soft fruits, and creamy vanilla musk.
- ZX81 Pour Homme – A refined masculine blend of lavender, leather, and aromatic freshness.
The accompanying promotional literature describes these as “subtle and sophisticated.” So if you want to smell like your dad did in 1984, whilst your mum was knocking back snowballs or Babyshams, this could be the Christmas aroma for you.
Package design for these 100ml scents matches the corresponding bottle, although I suspect the C64 and Spectrum options will outsell the others. With such classic 1980s sniffs, one wonders what is next?
You can pre-order these fragrances from AUKDirect now, and who knows, maybe they’ll add an ashtray for your car keys, too…
