MicroProse has listed Deck & Conn on Steam, which is dripping with retro graphics and gameplay, not to mention a heavy dose of Super Star Trek.

Revived classic strategy and sim producer MicroProse is lining up the release of another retro-inspired turn-based tactical sim, but this one has a twist. Mixing Super Star Trek with a Cold War setting in space, you’re placed in command of a nuclear corvette, dripping in pixel art and the classic 1980s/90s MicroProse world.

This is the synopsis:

In Deck and Conn, players must lead their crew through a relentless forever-war among the stars. Every patrol brings tough choices: respond to distress calls, capture or destroy enemy ships, upgrade your systems, and manage scarce resources — all while shaping the legacy of your vessel and crew.

Whether facing the branching challenges of a dynamic campaign or honing skills in standalone tactical scenarios, Deck and Conn demands precision, adaptability, and decisive leadership.

Deck & Conn game features

A list of features have been outlined for the game:

🛰 Command a Cold War-inspired nuclear space corvette in a retro-futuristic sci-fi universe

📉 Turn-based tactical combat with limited resources and intricate system management

🎖 Dynamic campaign with war patrols, ship upgrades, and crew promotions

🧠 Standalone combat scenarios to master tactical fundamentals

🚀 Capture or destroy enemy vessels to gain rewards and shape your ship’s reputation

🖥 Hand-crafted pixel art inspired by early ’90s MicroProse classics

📡 Follow HQ orders and make high-stakes decisions in the endless war

🎮 Homage to the 1971 Super Star Trek mainframe game

I’m a big fan of MicroProse’s classic titles, from Project Stealth Fighter to Sid Meier’s Civilization and beyond. This feels like it could have been released around the same time, and I, as the youngsters say, am here for it.
