If you like discounts and retrospective features, Total War studio The Creative Assembly Limited and SEGA have got you, uh, covered.
To celebrate the series’ birthday, a massive Steam sale has been launched, which will be accompanied by a collection of exclusive features. The developers are planning to take fans behind-the-scenes and are planning retrospective interviews and fantasy and historical multiplayer tournaments.
Vice President of Total War, Roger Collum said: “We’re honoured and humbled to be one of the few video games that get the chance to celebrate such a huge milestone, and we want to thank colleagues past and present, as well as our fans for all the support. 2025 marks an exciting new era for the franchise as we reveal what’s next for Total War, and we can’t wait to celebrate throughout the year with everyone.”
Check this forum post from Roger Collum for more information.
The anniversary celebration includes a huge collection of discounts, which you can find now on Steam. This includes up to 75% off some games including Total War: THREE KINGDOMS, Total War: ROME II, Total War: PHARAOH and many more.
(2025 seems to be a big year for anniversaries — Pac-Man is 45!)

Do you play Total War?
Incredibly, the Total War series first launched in 2000, with Shogun: Total War, and has since added 15 more titles to an epoch-spanning collection of strategic combat. Over 48.3 million copies have been sold, although it isn’t clear how many fans of the franchise are completists and how many just admire particular eras (or Warhammer).
My own library features Napoleon: Total War, A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, and Total War: EMPIRE – Definitive Edition, which perhaps gives you an impression of where my strategic combat interests lay.

Oddly, I don’t know anyone else who plays these games, aside from the Warhammer titles, which I suspect are the most popular in the series.
