Michael Ironside is back as Sam Fisher, in that game from 2004 that you forgot because of Splinter Cell: Conviction.

In news that has surprised everyone, and bewildered even more, Tom Clancy’s Spinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow has appeared on Steam, completely unannounced. The game, which stars Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher, is considered the least-good of the series, which are among some of the best stealth games ever released on PC.

Here’s the original trailer, which doesn’t do the game justice, but hey, who knew we’d need it again 20 years later? And it’s not exactly showing a less impressive version as, even more inexplicably, the game hasn’t been remastered (?!?).

The game features:

SUSPENSEFUL TECHNOTHRILLER
Play as elite agent Sam Fisher and navigate through high-stakes missions across the globe, from the tense corridors of the American Embassy in East Timor to a high-speed train bound for Nice, France, as you race to thwart a global bio-terror threat.

CUTTING-EDGE STEALTH MECHANICS
Evade, outsmart, and silently neutralize enemies with advanced gadgets and weapons, signature stealth techniques, and strategic takedowns.

REACTIVE ENEMY AI
Be tactical and leverage your environment as you face intelligent foes who react to sound, movement, and light, keeping tension high and every mission unpredictable.

…and Uplay, which seems odd for a game that predates the unpopular DRM/update tool by about half a decade. (Man, I had some trouble with that thing when I was trying to continue play Conviction on a new PC.)

The listing also confirms the lack of remastered graphics:

PLEASE NOTE: This is a re-release of the original game, not a remastered version. Aside from fixing critical issues, the game remains unchanged. Please note that multiplayer mode will not be available.

No one seems quite sure why Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is available on Steam today and unannounced, but you can check it out for under a tenner, which seems pretty good value for any Michael Ironside performance.
