Drawing from vintage sources, the book includes commentary from artists and game industry figures. Pre-order now for a late spring release!
What Are Video Game Maps?
Back when video games mattered to no one but imaginative kids, maps were an important way to chart progress through an adventure. RPGs (text, mouse-driven, and arcade) all benfitted from hand-drawn maps, as did shooters.
You might have made maps yourself — I certainly did. Magazines would even print video game maps. I remember discovering undiscovered areas in Turrican that I’d never found through normal play, thanks to one such map.
Video Game Maps: SNES Volume 2 is a new collection of game maps for 65 Super Nintendo Entertainment Sytstem games. Titles such as Harvest Moon and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, are featured, spread across stunning full colour page spreads. It even includes some Japan exclusives.

The maps within originated on guides, posters, instruction manuals, advertisements, and magazines, and are accompanied by quotes from a collection of artists and writers, as well as game developers, podcasters, comedians (?), and journalists.
A book-only option is available, which gives you the volume for £35. A collector’s bundle was initally listed, but this (which featured a notebook, art print, sticker, and bookmark alongside the book) has sold out.
You can learn about this retro game book and pre-order ahead of its late Spring release on the product page. Note that Video Game Maps: SNES Volume 2 is totally unofficial and not affiliated with Nintendo.
