The RPG, Dokapon Kingdom, developed by Sting will be coming to Nintendo Switch for Japan on 23rd April 2003. It will launch as the title Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, allowing four-player online multiplayer.
Releasing on the Nintendo Wii back in 2008 (and on PS2 in 2007) it had a cutesy and chibi art-style complementing the board game RPG combat. Players competed to defeat enemies and earn the highest amount of money. The news of its port to Switch was reported by Famitsu as an early scoop yesterday, posted by @gamenohanashi on Twitter and translated in another tweet by @gosokkyu.
Sting have been in the business since 1989, creating phone games, quite a few of which have never been playable outside of Japan. They have produced games for the Super Famicom such as Treasure Hunter G and have created multiple game series, most notably Baroque.
Unfortunately, there has not yet been news of the port making its way to western audiences. We always love seeing old favourites making their way to new consoles, making it accessible for new players. Let’s hope Nintendo open the door of opportunity for us!
I am a media and pop culture enthusiast and love Nintendo and indie games, particularly Zelda and Stardew Valley. When I’m not gaming you’ll find me writing, creating fanart, and playing music covers of my favourite games!
