It’s the Amiga replica that everyone wants, and you can have it too, if you’re okay waiting until summer 2026…

After years of speculation and rumours and hints, you can now pre-order THE A1200, a full-sized replica of the Amiga 1200. Following earlier news of its impending revival, the A1200 is now available to pre-order ahead of its June 2026 release.

But what is it, and who will want a replica of the Amiga 1200?

What is THE A1200?

A few years ago, Retro Games Ltd released THEA500 Mini, a compact Amiga games console, without a working keyboard. However, as many Amiga games required keyboard input, a full-sized Amiga replica with a usable keyboard was desirable, and superior to a USB keyboard or the built-in emulation suite’s software keyboard.

THE A1200 doesn’t just have a working keyboard. It also has HDMI output at 50/60Hz, 4x USB ports for controllers, and comes with a “tank” mouse and CD32-inspired controller. The USB ports will also support sideloading, and save states are supported so you can save your progress in your favourite Amiga games.

Inside, THE A1200 has hardware capable of emulating games for the original A1200 and CD32 Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA, also used in the Amiga 4000), along with titles designed for the A500 (OCS) and later A500, A500+, and CDTV (Enhanced Chip Set, or ECS).

What games come with THE A1200?

The retro computer comes with 25 Amiga games pre-installed along with Workbench. So far, the following titles have been confirmed:

  • Beneath A Steel Sky
  • Lure of the Temptress
  • Ruff n Tumble
  • Defender of the Crown
  • Defender of the Crown II
  • Turrican
  • Turrican 2
  • Turrican 3
  • The Settlers 2 Gold Edition

The fact that The Settlers 2 is being included indicates that the hardware is capable of handling some demanding titles.

At the time of writing, a further 16 titles are yet to be confirmed. And, of course, you can sideload other games.

You can pre-order THE A1200 from Retro Games Ltd, regional online retailers, and Amazon.
