Mega Cat Studios and the ZPF Team have released a new lore trailer for their upcoming 16-bit shoot ’em up, ZPF

The slightly unusual trailer offers a deeper glimpse into the game’s strange and captivating universe. Narrated by the affable Quibley, the trailer explores the game’s distinct realms and the peculiar characters inhabiting them, showcasing the surreal landscapes and challenging boss encounters that await players.

The trailer’s release comes after a successful Kickstarter campaign that saw the project exceed its funding goals by over 1000%. This amazing result for the project underscores the passion of classic shoot ’em up fans. We can expect a modern retro experience, with screen-filling bosses, a rewarding scoring system, and environments spanning sci-fi, horror, and fantasy themes.

Players will have the choice to play as three unique characters, each with their own style, adding to the game’s replayability.

Almost inevitably, a high-energy chiptune soundtrack accompanies play.

ZPF Is Delayed

While excitement for ZPF is high, the developers have also announced a slight delay in the game’s release, pushing the release date for backers to May. However, it has also been hinted that if the delayed materials arrive sooner than expected, they will expedite the fulfillment process. At the very least, this enables additional time to playtesting and bug fixes.
